PARAMUS, N.J. — Topcon Medical Systems has introduced a mobile version of its EyeRoute image management suite as an iPhone application available for download through the Apple iTunes store in North America, according to a press release from the company.

The new EyeRoute mobile application allows ophthalmologists who utilize EyeRoute software to securely access images and reports from any 3GS-compatible iPhone, iPod touch or iPad. Clinicians may access patient images in their EyeRoute database by modality or visit date, and pan, zoom and enhance images using touch-screen functionality. In addition, the EyeRoute Mobile offers annotation and audio dictation options, as well as an integrated messaging system for sharing information with other EyeRoute users.

Clinicians who do not use EyeRoute platforms will be able to use the mobile application to access a demo image database with analysis and editing features, according to the release.

The EyeRoute mobile application, which was first presented during last year's American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting, is currently available for download from the Apple iTunes store.
