TheraTears expands dry eye product line
WOBURN, Mass. — The TheraTears product line has been expanded with a new eye gel and a nutritional supplement, both of which were launched this month, according to the manufacturer, Advanced Vision Research.
TheraTears Liquid Gel is a preservative-free and hypotonic electrolyte-balanced lubricant eye gel designed for night use or for dry eyes that require a longer-lasting protective film during the day.
TheraTears Nutrition is a nutritional supplement available as a soft-gel capsule. It contains eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexanoic (DHA)-enriched flaxseed oil fortified with vitamin E.
TheraTears Nutrition “suppresses meibomitis by generating anti-inflammatory ecosanoids, stimulates tear production by increasing PGE1 and augments the oil layer by providing the omega-3 [fatty acids] the meibomian glands need to manufacture a better oil layer,” said Jeffrey P. Gilbard, MD, founder and president of Advanced Vision Research.
