The Tear Film and Ocular Surface Society has begun organizing its third international workshop, the TFOS International Workshop on Contact Lens Discomfort, according to a news release.

The workshop is slated to launch within the next few months, the release said.

The steering committee members are Jason Nichols (U.S.; chair), Mark Willcox (Australia; vice chair), David Sullivan (U.S.; organizer), Joseph Ciolino (U.S.), Jennifer Craig (New Zealand), Gary Foulks (U.S.), Lyndon Jones (Canada), Kelly Nichols (U.S.), Chris Purslow (U.K.) and Fiona Stapleton (Australia).

The committee will finalize the workshop mission, select participants, determine objectives and establish a timeline, the release said.

Contact lens discomfort is a leading cause of patient dissatisfaction and discontinuation of contact lens wear throughout the world, according to the release. Previous TFOS workshops focused on dry eye and meibomian gland dysfunction.
