MONROVIA, Calif. — STAAR Surgical received CE mark approval for a hydrophobic acrylic IOL, in addition to receiving approval to market an implantable Collamer lens in Brazil, the company announced in a press release.

The KS-SP preloaded single-piece hydrophobic acrylic IOL is inserted into the eye through a 2.8-mm incision, and the company's proprietary injector system uses an independently sourced lens to eliminate glistening, the release said.

STAAR is planning a limited market launch for the IOL in July, with a full market launch during the fourth quarter.

The Visian implantable Collamer lens V4 design will be launched in Brazil during the third quarter. The company owns the ICL registration in Brazil and will continue to move forward to the upgraded V4c design, according to the release.
