STAAR reports $14.9 million in second quarter sales
MONROVIA, Calif. Sales for STAAR Surgical totaled $14.9 million for the second quarter, a 1.4% increase compared with the second quarter 2006, the company announced in a press release.
During the second quarter, international sales increased 13.4% to $9.8 million, while U.S. sales decreased 15.6% to $5.2 million, both compared with the second quarter 2006. In particular, second quarter U.S. sales of the Visian ICL totaled $1 million, a 14% decline compared with the same period last year, the release said.
STAAR also reported a net loss of $4.4 million for the second quarter, or $0.16 per share, compared with a loss of $3.2 million, or $0.13 per share, for the same period of 2006, according to the release.
