MINNEAPOLIS — A small-diameter intracorneal lens for presbyopia, still under development by Bausch & Lomb, creates a bifocal effect, potentially reducing the presbyope’s dependence on glasses or contact lenses.

“This concept has actually been around for about 8 years, but we only recently revisited it,” said co-developer Richard L. Lindstrom, MD, a clinical professor in ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota. “Presbyopia is certainly the frontier — nearly universal over the age of 45 — yet we still don’t have the perfect solution.”
