TAMPA, Fla. Sirion Therapeutics has entered into an agreement with Advanced Vision Research to co-promote in the United States an oral retinal nutritional supplement and a convenience kit for meibomian gland therapy, Sirion announced in a press release.
MacuTrition is an over-the-counter oral nutritional supplement consisting of synergistic anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatories and anti-angiogenics, including fish oil, omega-3, vitamin D, green tea extract and vitamin E, which play key roles in reducing the risk of oxidation, inflammation and neovascularization associated with macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
The NutriDox Convenience Kit, available by prescription, includes doxycycline 75 mg, TheraTears Nutrition supplements and the iHeat portable warm compress system, the release said.
"Sirion and Advanced Vision Research share a joint focus on healthy eyes for patients through clinical research and innovation in ocular disease," Jeffrey P. Gilbard, MD, founder, chief executive officer and chief scientific officer of Advanced Vision Research, said in the release. "Sirion's resources and specialized sales force will be instrumental in helping AVR promote retinal and meibomian gland health and provide relief for dry-eye patients."
Under the terms of the agreement, Sirion's sales force will promote Advanced Vision Research's MacuTrition supplement and NutriDox kit and provide sampling for its TheraTears line.
