PARIS — Schwind eye-tech solutions announced the launch of both a 750 Hz and 500 Hz version of its Amaris excimer laser system as well as the introduction of the SmartTech nanosecond laser concept here, according to a press release.

"With the launch of the new Schwind Amaris product family including a 750 Hz version, and with the introduction of our new SmartTech concept laser system based on nanosecond technology, we impressively demonstrate our innovative strengths and thus we are continuously expanding our position as technological leader in the market," CEO Rolf Schwind said at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons meeting.

The 750 Hz laser combines speed and safety, according to the press release. The laser also features six-dimensional, active 1,050 Hz eye tracking.

The Schwind Amaris 500E excimer laser system presents a 500 Hz cost-efficient alternative with a compact, ergonomic and mobile design.

The SmartTech concept is based on nanosecond laser technology creating plasma to separate corneal tissue and is expected to have corneal transplant surgery applications in addition to LASIK-flap creation capabilities.
