Restraining order denied, Acuvue Oasys launch still on schedule

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A U.S. district court denied a motion to issue a restraining order to prevent the launch of Vistakon’s Acuvue Oasys contact lenses. The company said the product’s launch next week is still on schedule.

Acuvue Oasys with Hydraclear Plus is indicated for daily wear vision correction, Vistakon said in a press release. According to the company, the lens is the first daily wear contact made from senofilcon A, a silicone hydrogel material Vistakon claims is 50% smoother than currently available hydrogel lenses.

CIBA Vision, a division of Novartis, filed a motion for a temporary restraining order to halt the introduction of the lens, the release noted.

Vistakon is a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson.
