HUNENBERG, Switzerland — Alcon shareholders elected Cary Rayment, the company’s chief executive officer, to the board of directors for a 3-year term, the company announced in a press release. He replaces Timothy R.G. Sear, who retired effective May 3, 2005.

Mr. Rayment has served as CEO since Oct. 1, 2004.

After the shareholders’ meeting, the board elected Mr. Rayment to serve as chairman of the board as well, the company noted.
