Project will facilitate monitoring of cataract, refractive surgery outcomes in Europe

ROME — The European Registry of Quality Outcomes in Cataract and Refractive Surgery, or EUREQUO, is a 3-year project promoted by the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons with the aim of improving the standards and formulating evidence-based guidelines for a better, more standardized medical practice in Europe.

"To reach these purposes, we need to collect data, identify what's good and what needs to be better in our practices, assess outcomes, and evaluate indications and surgical procedures," Mats Lundström, MD, said at the winter meeting of the ESCRS.

Interested surgeons can connect and report data to this registry at www.eurequo.org. Once the data is recorded, it will be processed and disseminated in the EUREQUO database. The data will be shown as frequency tables and standard graphs suitable for comparison and audit purposes.
