SAN FRANCISCO — EyeCare America has received a $1.5 million grant from Pfizer Ophthalmics, according to a press release. The 3-year grant unrestricted educational grant will support EyeCare America’s Glaucoma EyeCare program, which promotes early detection and treatment of glaucoma by raising risk factor awareness, the release from EyeCare America said.

The glaucoma program is designed for people who have not had an eye exam in the past 12 months, who are at an increased risk for glaucoma and who do not have insurance.

EyeCare America is the public service program of the Foundation of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
