PediaVision launches pediatric vision assessment device for non-vision specialists

LAKE MARY, Fla. — PediaVision has made its PediaVision Assessment Solution for detecting refractive errors and other ocular conditions in children available to non-vision specialists, the company announced in a press release.

The fully automated PediaVision Assessment Solution (PAS), which includes a handheld apparatus, printer and laptop with pre-installed software, can perform comprehensive refractive assessment and pupil size analysis and produce a gaze deviation chart. In addition, the system is capable of using advanced digital imaging for referencing more advanced ocular issues.

Based on photoretinoscopy, the noninvasive refractive measuring device projects an infrared light onto the retina from a distance of 3 feet to form an exact brightness pattern depending on the refractive error. Results are then translated into a digital printout that includes a photo-documented certificate displaying refraction, pupil size and gaze deviation, the release said.
