WAYNE, Pa. — The Patient Confidence Corporation of America has made its VisionLock patient care plan for LASIK and premium IOL surgery available in Florida, the company announced.

Founded by Steven B. Siepser, MD, the Patient Confidence Corporation of America (PCCA) developed its VisionLock plan to "provide quality protection to patients in a non-adversarial environment," according to a press release from the PCCA.

The VisionLock patient care plan matches patients with a pool of board-certified surgeons who have met or exceeded U.S. Food and Drug Administration, state, local and practice certification standards and provides a program to assure patients that their surgeons have processes to resolve difficulties after surgery.

The VisionLock plan, which includes a complimentary second opinion, offers up to $1 million of coverage for specific surgical complications that may occur in treated eyes within 30 postoperative days, according to literature on the VisionLock website.

In the event that a postoperative condition persists after a covered procedure, the plan also covers 100% of the scheduled fee for services rendered by an accredited PCCA ophthalmologist and 50% of fees for services rendered by non-accredited practitioners, according to the VisionLock website.

In addition, the plan covers up to $5,000 of coverage for accidental eye trauma.

Patients covered by the plan will also have access to the PCCA call center on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Eastern time.

Five Florida-based physicians are now offering the VisionLock program to their patients. The PCCA plans to expand coverage to selected states nationwide over the next 18 months, the release said.
