OSN introduces first-of-its-kind retina section

THOROFARE, N.J. — SLACK Incorporated is introducing a first-of-its-kind monthly retina news section within its ophthalmic newspaper, Ocular Surgery News.

"This is an era of revolutionary change in retina . There's truly never been a more exciting time to be a retina specialist," Carmen A. Puliafito, MD, MBA, OSN Retina/Vitreous Section Editor and Course Director of Retina 2012, said. "And with all these changes, we need regular, reliable news updates in retina. There is no publication better to serve this need for retina specialists and other ophthalmologists than Ocular Surgery News."

"Ocular Surgery News has always covered retinal news, but never like this. The new retina section will be augmented and enhanced with more and deeper content for the specialty. It will truly be a destination section for retina specialists each month," Joan-Marie Stiglich, ELS, senior vice president of SLACK Incorporated, said.

For the last 29 years, OSN has been the authoritative source and leader in ophthalmic news reporting. OSN is known for its comprehensive coverage of each of the 13 specialty areas in ophthalmology, including retina. OSN is expanding its commitment to the nearly 2,200 retina physicians in the United States, who need a news vehicle dedicated to their specialty.

The OSN retina section, which will be easy to find within the publication with is distinctive design, will be solely dedicated to retina-related news and developments and will include unique content such as:

  • Targeted meeting highlights - Coverage from nine retina-specific meetings (Retina, Annual Squaw Valley Retinal Symposium, Annual Aspen Retinal Detachment Society, Annual Macula Society Meeting, Euretina, Retina Subspecialty Day at AAO, Wills Eye Macula, ASRS, Angiogenesis) accompanied by expert perspective from retina physicians

  • What's Your Diagnosis? - Case questions and answers that will test diagnostic skills

The OSN retina section will make its debut in the January 25 issue, coinciding with the Retina 2012 meeting, to be held January 15-20, 2012, in Maui, Hawaii. The meeting will draw more than 150 retina specialists who will be among the first to see the expanded retina section.
