OSN board member named director of New England Eye Center

Duker0701Jay S. Duker, MD, has been named Tufts-New England Medical Center ophthalmologist-in chief and director of Boston’s New England Eye Center, the hospital announced. Dr. Duker will also serve as chairman of the department of ophthalmology at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Dr. Duker is a member of the Ocular Surgery News editorial board, and has served as director of vitreoretinal diseases and surgery services for Tufts.

Dr. Duker specializes in both medical and surgical diseases of the posterior segment. His primary surgical interests include retinal detachment, proliferative vitreoretinopathy, proliferative diabetic retinopathy, retinopathy of prematurity and posterior segment trauma. He also specializes in posterior segment uveitis, AIDS-related retinitis, intraocular tumors and retinal vascular disorders.

Dr. Duker spent his residency at Philadelphia’s Wills Eye Hospital and earned a fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery and intraocular tumors at the hospital as well.
