Optos plans to go public
Optos, a Scottish company specializing in retinal imaging devices, plans to go public in the United Kingdom, according to an article in Red Herring.
Optos markets the Panoramic200 Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscope, which takes high-resolution images of the retina. The company estimates about 6 million Optomap exams have already been executed by physicians in its various markets.
The company has appointed Goldman Sachs as its sole sponsor. Optos increased its 2005 revenues to $48.4 million from $29.8 million in 2004, the story said. The company anticipates the global offer will be finalized this month.
