WETZLAR, Germany — Oculus opened their newly expanded headquarters in a celebration with physicians and distributors here prior to the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons annual meeting.
At the "Happy Day" celebration, the company gave a tour of their headquarters, which houses their exhibit room, management team and production facilities, as well as brought their guests to the Viseum, an optical museum that was founded in a joint venture with competitors such as Leica and Carl Zeiss Meditec.

Rainer Kirchübel, president of Oculus, said the expansion was meant to improve internal processing, production, assemby, final products, services and research and development, but it also includes social improvements such as solar panels that contribute to the development of local electricity. He estimated they produce electric power for 50 houses per year.
"It took a long time from the starting point to where we are now, nearly 2 years, but now we are nearly ready," he said. "A lot of people had to work a lot to make this possible today."
