THOROFARE, N.J. — Peter N. Slack, CEO and president of The Wyanoke Group, is pleased to announce that Vindico Medical Education has received its accreditation with commendation as a provider of continuing medical education by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). ACCME accreditation with commendation, also known as Level 3 accreditation, ranks Vindico Medical Education among the top 8% of providers of continuing medical education in the United States, including some of the nation's most prestigious medical schools.
OCULAR SURGERY NEWS joint sponsors with Vindico Medical Education on Hawaiian Eye, Retina, Kiawah Eye and OSN New York.
"Vindico's entry into the vaunted ranks of Level 3 accredited organizations places them among the medical educators that have demonstrated the highest levels of educational acumen based on content quality, physician needs and patient safety," said national continuing medical education advisor Steve Passin, president of Steve Passin & Associates.
Level 3 ACCME accreditation assures both physicians and the public that continuing medical education activities sponsored by Vindico Medical Education meet the high standards adopted by all seven sponsoring organizations of the ACCME: the American Board of Medical Specialties, the American Hospital Association, the American Medical Association, the Association for Hospital Medical Education, the Association of American Medical Colleges, the Council of Medical Specialty Societies and the Federation of State Medical Boards. Vindico is pleased to join these elite educators, including major medical schools, medical societies, hospitals and other medical education organizations, that have been awarded this special accreditation status.
"This acknowledgement of Vindico's performance-in-practice demonstrates the meaning of our company's motto, 'Overall great service, dedicated people, and quality product in education'," said Wayne B. McCourt, chief operating officer of Vindico Medical Education. He also noted that Vindico's educational initiatives pass a rigorous peer-review process under the aegis of Vindico's chief medical officer, William C. Lloyd, MD, who heads the Office of Medical Affairs. CME activities are developed with complete independence from industry and are based on the best medical and scientific evidence as determined by leading clinicians and experts associated with each of the company's major educational initiatives and the SLACK Incorporated OCULAR SURGERY NEWS Publications.
Robert Esgro, chief development officer for Vindico, cited the company's relationship with the publications of SLACK as a valuable tool to identify learner needs through journal readership and to draw on the expertise of the publication editorial boards. "Collaborations with SLACK on in-depth programs in orthopedic surgery, pediatrics, endocrinology, diabetes, hematology, oncology, cardiology, infectious diseases and psychiatry have been a cornerstone to the educational excellence offered by the company," Mr. Esgro said.
"We are proud of Vindico Medical Education for this outstanding achievement and have recommitted the SLACK Publications to developing and executing exceptional continuing medical education in partnership with Vindico," said Joan-Marie Stiglich, ELS, senior vice president, SLACK Incorporated.
