FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Optical coherence tomography is a useful tool in monitoring corneal healing in LASIK patients, according to a poster presentation here at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology meeting.

Sameena Haque and colleagues investigated OCT images to “assess how light backscatter profiles change after LASIK, expecting to see the intensity of the flap interface reduce with time.”

In their study, both eyes of 27 LASIK patients were monitored. Central corneal OCT measurements were taken preoperatively and at 1 day, 1 week and 6 months following surgery.
