Novartis integrates ophthalmic unit into pharma division
BASEL, Switzerland Novartis plans to completely integrate the company's ophthalmics business unit into its pharmaceuticals division in a move to boost efficiency and save costs, company executives announced.
According to a Novartis press release, in mid-2003 the business unit's global headquarters will move from Bülach, Switzerland, to Basel. At the same time, the Swiss business will be moved into Novartis Pharma Switzerland in Berne.
At this time, the company does not foresee any staffing reductions as a result of the realignment or moves.
