MELVILLE, N.Y. — Nikon Optical USA has acquired a minority stake in Encore Optics, a prescription laboratory in South Windsor, Conn., the company announced in a press release.

Under the terms of the agreement, Encore Optics will own exclusive rights to manufacture and distribute Nikon's Japanese product line of optical technologies in the Northeastern United States, including aspheric single-vision lenses and digitally surfaced progressive lenses.

Encore will also collaborate with Nikon to introduce Nikon's portfolio of super-premium lens coatings.

In addition, the companies have built a Nikon coating facility on the site of Encore Optics' laboratory in Connecticut, according to the release.
