NicOx reports Euro 13 million net loss for first quarter

SOPHIA ANTIPOLIS, France — NicOx reported a net loss of Euro 13 million for the first quarter, compared with a net profit of Euro 1.8 million for the first quarter of 2007, the company announced in a press release.

First-quarter revenues totaled Euro 1.4 million, compared with Euro 8.7 million for the same period last year. NicOx attributes this difference to two milestone payments from Merck & Co. and Pfizer, which were acknowledged in last year's first quarter.

NicOx's operating expenses totaled Euro 17.5 million for the first quarter, compared with Euro 10.1 million for the first quarter of 2007, according to the release.
