PARIS — The LENTIS Mplus IOL, an innovative design multifocal IOL technology, shows promising results, according to a presenter here.

The asymmetric design of the lens (Oculentis) comprises a sector-shaped section of +3D in the periphery, which is used for near vision, while the rest of the optic is powered for distance vision.

"I have used this lens in 20 eyes of 10 patients and I am surprised by the remarkable results on intermediate vision," Magda Rau, MD, said at the meeting of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. "Also near and distance vision are excellent, and only a small minority of patients reported mild glare and halos. Contrast sensitivity improved in all the cases."
