SINGAPORE — STAAR Surgical recently launched the KS-3Ai aspheric IOL, which features a pre-loaded injection system, according to a Hans Blickensdoerfer, vice president of marketing for STAAR Surgical.

While the injection system provides a sterile delivery, the aspheric IOL features polyimide haptics, which help to provide stable centration and to avoid malpositioning of the lens, according to the spokesman. The news system was launched here at the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology.

The lens and pre-loaded injection system have been available in Japan for more than a year, and are now available throughout the Asia-Pacific region. They were also recently launched in Europe, company officials said.
