LVCIST. LOUIS — LaserVision Centers (NASDAQ: LVCI) has announced its plans to buy Lakewood, Colo.–based ClearVision Laser Centers and Omaha, Neb.–based Ophthalmic Resources.

ClearVision operates fixed and mobile excimer lasers for use in LASIK procedures. Once the acquisition is complete, LVCI will operate 125 excimer lasers and is expecting surgeons to perform more than 40,000 LASIK procedures per quarter in its 360 locations.

Ophthalmic Resources is a cataract surgery company. With the acquisition of the assets of Ophthalmic Resources, LVCI, through its Midwest Surgical Services division, will provide cataract services to 226 surgeons in 251 hospitals in 36 states.

As of May 1, LVCI operated 106 excimer lasers in the United States.
