YOKNEAM, Israel — Lumenis reported revenues for its third quarter of $62.5 million, down from $66.2 million in the third quarter of 2003, according to a press release from the company. Gross profit improved to $30.3 million from $26.6 million in the third quarter of 2003, the press release said.

Sales in the Americas region were $30.7 million; in Europe, $11.8 million; and in the Asia-Pacific region, $20.1 million, the company announced. Its ophthalmic product line accounted for $13.2 million in sales, down from the $16.6 million in the third quarter of 2003. Net loss for the quarter totaled $2.3 million and reflected the company’s new sales and marketing agreement with WaveLight Laser Technologie, according to Lumenis.

Avner Raz, president and chief executive officer of Lumenis, said in the press release that the company now has a growing backlog of orders, and a high-powered 532-nm photocoagulator laser was debuted at last month’s American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting.
