Lumenis receives U.S. OK for retinal laser

YOKNEAM, Israel — An infrared diode photocoagulator laser received U.S. regulatory approval for the treatment of retinal diseases, according to a press release from the laser manufacturer, based here.

The Food and Drug Administration granted Lumenis approval for its Novus TTx 810 Nanometer Infrared Diode Photocoagulator. The Novus TTx combines the power of an 810-nm infrared laser “with Lumenis’ exclusive and highly-adaptable user interface, giving ophthalmologists an advanced device to treat even the most complicated retinal conditions,” said Avner Raz, president and chief executive officer, in a press release issued by the company.
