Lumenis announces three-module photocoagulation laser platform

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Lumenis is launching its Vision One photocoagulation laser platform, a scanner-ready system with three modules of differing wavelengths, according to a press release from the company.

Vision One offers modules of green 532 nm, yellow 577 nm and red 659 nm and is contained within a single chassis, with one control unit for all functions and features. This allows users to select a specific wavelength that will be maximally absorbed by the target chromophore while being minimally absorbed by competing chromophores.

"The launch of Vision One represents a significant milestone for Lumenis. Its predecessor product, the Novus Varia, has evolved into one of the leading multi-wavelength retinal photocoagulation laser systems in the world. ... With Vision One we are taking yet another step forward by launching a modular platform that is designed to grow with the needs of our customers, along with advancements in technology," Kfir Azoulay, head of Lumenis Vision's global marketing organization, said in the release.

The platform is equipped with a voice confirmation feature that enables ophthalmologists to change parameters while receiving vocal confirmation, providing added reassurance, and will be compatible with future Lumenis products currently under development.
