CINCINNATI — LCA-Vision Inc. reported revenues of $59.3 million for the third quarter of 2006, an increase of 26% over the same quarter of 2005.

The company experienced a 24% increase in year-over-year procedure volumes for the quarter, during which it opened five new LasikPlus vision centers. But despite the increases in revenues and procedure volume, third quarter 2006 net income totaled roughly $7.2 million, or about $0.34 per share, down from about $7.9 million, or $0.37 per share, for the third quarter of 2005, according to a press release from the company.

The decrease in income was primarily due to ineffective direct-to-consumer marketing, company officials said in the release.
