Las Vegas leads country in dry eye hot spots

RED BANK, N.J. — Las Vegas leads the country as a city with “environmental conditions most likely to contribute to dry eye,” the National Women’s Health Resource Center said in a news release.

Four cities in Texas follow Las Vegas: Lubbock, El Paso, Midland/Odessa and Dallas/Fort Worth. Rounding out the top 10 worst cities are Atlanta, Salt Lake City (Utah), Phoenix, Amarillo (Texas) and Honolulu.

The rankings are based on six factors including temperature, humidity, wind, altitude, pollutants and ocular allergens. Other major cities on the list include New York, Los Angeles, Washington, San Francisco, Chicago, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Miami.
