Kowa Optimed launches three ophthalmic imaging devices at AAO

SAN FRANCISCO — Kowa Optimed has launched three ophthalmic imaging devices that have recently been approved by the U.S Food and Drug Administration.

The products include the company's FM-600 flare meter, the Genesis-Df handheld digital retinal camera and the fourth generation VX-10a two-in-one mydriatic and non-mydriatic fundus camera, according to press briefings issued here at the joint meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology.

Featuring a built-in thermal printer, the Kowa FM-600 allows physicians to record non-invasive, in-vivo measurements of aqueous flare for patients with uveitis following IOL implantation.

The 2-megapixel Genesis Df color and fluorescein angiography camera, which offers an ID input and one-handed focusing and shooting, has an angle-of-field of horizontal 30" and vertical 25" with a 5-mm working distance, according to a release from Kowa.

The VX-10a fundus camera, which can aid in the early detection of diabetes and immune deficiency diseases, allows physicians to take 30° and 50° optical angle photographs with working distance guidance and focus detection.
