MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Iridex posted sales of $8.3 million for the third quarter of 2003, an increase of 23% from the same period 1 year ago, the company announced in an earnings release. Net profit increased to $261,000, according to the release.

Sales of ophthalmology products during the quarter rose to $6.9 million, an increase of 27% from the year-ago quarter.

“Our international sales increased by 36% in the third quarter of 2003 compared with the third quarter of 2002, resulting from the continued worldwide acceptance of our ophthalmology products combined with strong performance from most of our international distributors,” said Theodore A. Boutacoff, president and chief executive officer, in the earnings statement.
