IOL technology widens field to include multifocal-toric combination
ISTANBUL, Turkey — An IOL technology is gaining popularity and expanding its scope through an increasing variety of products, a speaker said here.
"HumanOptics (Dr. Schmidt Intraocularlinsen) is now launching a new multifocal-toric combination, the ToricaDiff-sPB, with -3 D to +3 D sphere, a near +3.5 D add and cylinder from 1 D to 4 D," Patrice Vo Tan, MD, said at the winter meeting of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
Dr. Vo Tan also presented preliminary results of three groups of patients implanted with other add-on IOLs: the Secura-sPB for the correction of spherical errors, the Torica-sPB for the correction of cylindrical errors and the multifocal Diffractiva-sPB for the correction of presbyopia.
"All IOLs were well-positioned in the sulcus, and visual outcomes were extremely encouraging. We did not encounter postoperative complications such as interlenticular cell deposits, IOP elevation, pigment dispersion, irritation or inflammation. The simplicity of the surgical procedure and its reversibility are further advantages that make this technology appealing," Dr. Vo Tan said.
