IOL shows excellent performance at 1 year

BARCELONA — More than 1 year of follow-up in a series of 400 consecutive patients implanted with the Tecnis ZCB00 IOL shows that this lens performs well in the eye.

"It is easy to implant and unfolds in a smooth, reproducible manner," Joseph Colin, MD, said at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons meeting here.

The Tri-Fix 3 point fixation makes the Tecnis ZCB00 IOL (Abbott Medical Optics) stable in the bag, and no decentration was observed at 1 year, he noted.

Thanks to the 360° square edge on the posterior optic surface, which is designed to be pushed towards the posterior capsule, the rate of posterior capsule opacification is low.

"We only had one case of PCO out of 400," he said.

No glistening was observed within the acrylic material.
