Welcome to the future of ophthalmic news delivery. I am happy to present the first issue in our new format incorporating our updated philosophy, which we truly believe is a quantum leap in medical news. As I have said before, I believe this will be the greatest advance in ophthalmic news and news delivery in 25 years.

I would like to point out a number of changes you will find in this and every future issue of OSN. First, is the new design that has been updated for easy navigation and a quicker read. Clinical news articles are now even more concise to provide an authoritative summary with the busy ophthalmologist in mind. The cover story will always highlight a hot topic or controversial issue, offering in-depth analysis and perspective from respected leaders in ophthalmology. The cover story — brought forth by what we call enterprise reporting — is a deeply resourced article that provides perspective and analysis and that moves an issue, problem or debate forward. It is an approach unseen elsewhere in this specialty. I will add my own commentary to every issue to try to put the cover story into a global perspective for the reader as well. Also, inside each issue, you will find a Point/Counter feature to each cover story, with two experts presenting additional views on the topic. In The Journals is a section that will put the latest journal news into a condensed, time-saving format with additional expert perspective.

In addition to all of these new features in the print edition, now is also a good time to take a look at the new OSNSuperSite.com. In addition to the new look, the Web site now has a number of improvements over the previous version. At the end of each article we have added the ability for readers to add comments to aid communication between colleagues. We also have added a Google search appliance to the site to make your search for information easier and more accurate. We have designed an all new Meetings and Courses page, where you will have the ability to browse all of the meetings or search for a specific meeting being held anywhere in the world. On the site you will be able to find several new blogs headed by our OSN SuperSite section editor Uday Devgan, MD.

All of this comes in addition to the exclusive columns, meeting coverage and clinical news you have come to count on in OSN.

I hope that you will enjoy the new Ocular Surgery News, but more than that, I hope you will find it a more enjoyable, engrossing and easier read. We also want to know what you think of the changes. Please send your comments to OSNReaderFeedback@slackinc.com.
