IntraLase reports double-digit revenue increase for second quarter

IRVINE, Calif. — Revenues for IntraLase increased 45% to $23 million during the second quarter of 2005, compared to the same period last year, the company announced in a press release. IntraLase said it sold or leased 39 lasers, compared with 30 in the comparable period last year, with domestic and international sales nearly equal.
Laser revenues for the period rose to $11 million, and revenues from per-procedure fees increased 80% from last year, to $10.1 million. Maintenance revenues almost doubled in the second quarter of 2005 from the same period in 2004, to $1.9 million this year from $1 million last year, the company said.
According to IntraLase, its share of the U.S. corneal flap market grew to about 18% during the quarter. New customers worldwide are performing on average more than 85% of their LASIK procedures with the IntraLase laser within 30 days of installation, the company said in the release. During the quarter, Denmark and the Netherlands became the latest countries to approve use of the system, making the IntraLase laser available in 22 countries.
