IntraLase reports 40% revenue increase for Q2
IRVINE, Calif. IntraLase Corp. recorded record revenues and laser sales for the second quarter 2006, the company announced.
Revenue for the company increased 40% to $32.2 million, compared with $23 million for the second quarter 2005. Global sales of its fourth generation IntraLase FS laser led the revenue increase, according to company officials. The company said it sold or leased 52 laser units during the quarter, compared with 39 lasers during the second quarter 2005 and 49 lasers for first quarter 2006. Procedure sales also increased 40% over the second quarter 2005, totaling 119,000 procedures, according to a press release.
Net income for the second quarter 2006 totaled $5.6 million and included $1.2 million in non-cash, stock-based compensation expenses. Earnings per diluted share for the quarter were $0.18 vs. $0.04 for the second quarter 2005. Cash and marketable securities increased $7.6 million to $97.4 million, compared with $89.8 million as of March 31, according to the release.
