BUDAPEST, Hungary — The Presbia Flexivue intracorneal lens for presbyopia provides a good level of spectacle independence and high patient satisfaction, according to one surgeon.

"The implant provides good distance and near vision," Ioannis Pallikaris, MD, said at the winter meeting of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.

"We found an increase in higher-order aberration and decrease in monocular contrast sensitivity. However, 90% of the patients referred that their binocular vision was not affected and were happy with the results. Ninety percent were fully satisfied, and 70% were not using spectacles for near vision," he said.

The Flexivue lens is implanted in a stromal pocket using a femtosecond laser.
