ICL can be used to correct residual refractive error
NIDAU, Switzerland — The STAAR Visian ICL can be used in secondary procedures to correct minimal residual refractive error after previous refractive surgery, according to the company that manufactures the lens.
The Visian ICL and Toric ICL “may eliminate the need for corneal enhancements to a level which may become critical, particularly in cases of post-LASIK residual refractive errors,” the company said in a press release. STAAR said the ICL permits a correction of as low as –2 D, and the Toric ICL corrects as low as –1.25 D with cylinder of –0.75 D.
In other STAAR news, the company reported $51.3 million in sales for the year 2005, a slight decrease from the $51.7 million reported at year-end in 2004, the company said in a press release.
Net sales for the year decreased 1%, the company announced. During 2005, total ICL sales increased 30%, representing 10% of total sales.
