Hawaii 2002 boasts distinguished faculty and guests

WAIKOLOA, Hawaii — The Hawaii 2002 meeting will be held here January 20-25, 2002, at the Hilton Waikoloa Village on the Big Island. Course director Carmen A. Puliafito, MD, MBA, has organized more than 100 distinguished faculty to lead the week-long program.
The physician's program is being headed by Dr. Puliafito along with Ocular Surgery News Chief Medical Editor Richard L. Lindstrom, MD. Topics will include the latest medical and surgical updates surrounding all ophthalmic subspecialties including cataract/IOL, refractive, glaucoma, cornea/external disease and neuro-ophthalmology.
Special events start on Sunday with the popular "Lifestyles" program, moderated by Spencer P. Thornton, MD. Following this, the Philip M. Corboy, MD, Memorial Award will be presented to Alice R. McPherson, MD. Then special guest speaker Capt. James Lovell Jr. will tell the heroic and moving story of Apollo 13.
Surgeons are invited to the "Meet the Faculty" reception on Sunday evening to mingle with colleagues while enjoying the beautiful Hawaiian sunset, cocktails and island fare. Throughout the rest of the week, a series of breakfast and lunch symposia will provide attendees with in-depth coverage on cataract, glaucoma, infection and refractive topics. Plus, daily workshops will give hands-on experience with the latest tools and technologies in ophthalmology.
Ophthalmologists will have the opportunity to earn up to 37 hours of CME credits while treating their family to a winter vacation in Hawaii.
