Handheld pachymeter granted CE mark

VICTORIA, B.C. — A new handheld ultrasound pachymeter has been granted the CE Mark by the European Union, the unit’s developer said in a press release. The IOPac is the only portable pachymeter that can document patient information and the number of measurements taken and average the results, according to the developer.

The IOPac “provides accurate corneal measurements in a portable platform,” according to the press release from Starfish Product Engineering, based here. The IOPac will be sold through a partnership with Portable Ophthalmic Devices, of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Heidelberg Engineering, of Dossenheim, Germany. According to the press release, shipments to Europe will begin immediately.
