Coding and reimbursement challenges are vast. Increased knowledge in these areas, and knowing who your advocates and advisors are, will help you to avoid problems with coding — and will help you to increase your bottom line.

Additionally, because there are emerging technologies such as presbyopia-correcting IOLs and new drugs for the treatment of age-related macular degeneration, Ocular Surgery News presents this second Guide to Coding and Reimbursement.

For this Ocular Surgery News supplement, we called on advocates and advisors Kevin J. Corcoran, COE, CPC, FNAO, president and co-owner of Corcoran Consulting Group and OSN Practice Management Section Member, and Donna M. McCune, CCS-P, COE, vice president of Corcoran Consulting Group. Mr. Corcoran and Ms. McCune have provided numerous case studies, from ICD-9 coding to how to code for a consultation and how to code for a vision exam. These articles are just a few examples of what are provided in this guide.

Mr. Corcoran and Ms. McCune’s contributions seek to address error prevention, error evaluation and resolution and other special considerations. We appreciate their time and effort in developing articles on such important topics.

We hope you find this supplement worthwhile and educational.
