Glaucoma treatment guidelines in development
NEWPORT, R.I. A committee of glaucoma experts has begun work on a set of evidence-based practice guidelines for the general ophthalmologist who treats glaucoma patients.
Among the issues the National Committee on Glaucoma Management will address: the definition of criteria and target intraocular pressure goals for the mild, moderate and severe stages of glaucoma, normal tension glaucoma and ocular hypertension.
Our immediate priorities are to document the recommendations and determine the best vehicle to share this information with the general ophthalmology community, said Mark Sherwood, MD, co-chair of the committee.
