Glaucoma Research Foundation receives $1.5 million donation, launches 3-year capital campaign
SAN FRANCISCO The Glaucoma Research Foundation has accepted a donation of $1.55 million from board members Melza and F.T. Barr, kicking off a new $12 million capital campaign in support of the foundation's plan to set strategic imperatives through 2011, according to a press release from the organization.
The capital campaign was originally enacted to extend the Glaucoma Research Foundation's "Catalyst for a Cure" research consortium into a second 3-year cycle after its initiation, the release said.
Strategic imperatives of the plan include reinforcing the organization's innovative research for a cure through similar grants, educating patients through strategic partnerships with affiliate agencies and effective financing to allow 85 cents of every dollar donated to stream directly into research and education programs, according to the release.
