FVC expands into British Columbia

EDMONTON, Alberta — Family Vision Care (FVC), which operates vision correction centers here, will be expanding its operations into Vancouver with its purchase of a former TLC Laser Eye Centers location. FVC executives say they plan to reopen the facility in August under the VisionMed Vancouver name.

"We'll be capable of performing 3,000 customized vision correction procedures a year," said Michael Melenchuk, FVC president and chief executive officer.

Mr. Melenchuk added that the new facility will use wavefront technology for customized ablations. "It has the potential to enhance visual outcomes up to 50% and surpass 20/20 vision while reducing postsurgical problems like poor nighttime vision, glare and halos," Mr. Melenchuk said.

FVC was established in 1977; VisionMed is a 100% owned subsidiary of FVC that operates vision correction centers in Edmonton.
