ATLANTA — European regulators granted the CE mark to CIBA Vision for therapeutic use of its Focus Night & Day contact lenses. The lenses may now be used in Europe as a “bandage” in protecting the cornea, relieving corneal pain and aiding in corneal healing in the treatment of acute or chronic ocular pathologies and following eye surgery, the company announced.

Focus Night & Day lenses are made from a silicone hydrogel material that has a high oxygen transmission rate. Clinical studies in healthy eyes have shown the lenses have no buildup of bacteria during a 30-day wearing period, according to a company press release.
