Federal judge rules for Iridex in patent infringement case
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. A federal judge has granted a summary judgment to Iridex on 12 of its patent infringement claims against Synergetics USA Inc., Iridex announced.
The infringement claims revolved around the connector design for Synergetics' surgical equipment. Synergetics has since switched to a new connector design that was cleared of patent infringement in the same ruling, according to a press release from Synergetics.
The ruling limited Synergetics' liability to sales of devices manufactured with the old connector design from October 2005 onward, which was when Iridex initially filed the suit.
A jury trial scheduled for April 16 will determine damages, according to a press release from Iridex.
