SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Visx has received Food and Drug Administration marketing approval for another form of astigmatism treatment on its customized wavefront lasers, this time for mixed astigmatism, the company announced in a press release.

Visx noted it now has marketing approval on its CustomVue treatments for mixed astigmatism, myopia with astigmatism and hyperopia with astigmatism.

According to the press release, Visx is the only U.S. laser manufacturer to have approval for all forms of astigmatism.

Advanced Medical Optics and Visx agreed late last year to merge; the companies currently anticipate finalizing the deal in the second quarter.
