The Food and Drug Administration has approved two first-time generic equivalents for ciprofloxacin ophthalmic solution, the agency announced on its Web site. Both Bausch & Lomb and Novex Pharma were granted approval for an ophthalmic solution version of ciprofloxacin earlier this week.
Bausch & Lomb said in a press release that its prescription eye drops are available immediately in 2.5 mL, 5 mL and 10 mL sizes.
The branded form of topical ophthalmic ciprofloxacin is marketed by Alcon as Ciloxan.
